Cast Iron Gas Pipes Cause Concerns
Thanks to Brad Shipp of WFAA and his research into the use of cast iron gas pipes in Dallas, we now know that East Dallas, including all of Wilshire Heights and a number of surrounding neighborhoods, are part of the area where cast iron pipes were originally installed years ago. At the time of installation, they met code; however, further analysis has shown they have become brittle and prone to cracking and leaks. In fact, these pipes have been known to cause explosions and other very serious incidents.
Due to the seriousness of the situation, Wilshire Heights Neighborhood Association is organizing concerned neighbors to place calls to ATMOS Energy asking what their plan is to replace these dangerous pipes.

Our crime reports for May are below. This was a fairly quiet month without a great deal of activity. Car break-ins were down slightly and there were only 3 home break-ins.

Firefighter killed in six-alarm blaze that destroyed northeast Dallas condos
One firefighter was killed and two others were injured in a six-alarm blaze that destroyed at least 24 units at the Hearthwood North Condominiums at 12363 Abrams Road, near LBJ Freeway overnight.
