The crime reports for August 2011 are below. Again a fairly average month overall, though a few items of interest. There has been a slight uptick in auto thefts. In the past, 7-8 per month was not uncommon, but over the last two years, we’d gotten down to almost none. We’ve had four auto thefts (or attempted) each of the last two months. On at least two of the incidents this month, the theives were unsuccessful but they did cause damage to the vehicle. Don’t forget about our National Night Out at Tietze Park coming up on Oct 4th. Be looking for the flyer on your doorstep with more information. Continue reading “August 2011 Crime Reports”

National Night Out 2011 – Don’t Miss it!
Last year’s event was huge, with the biggest turn out yet! We’ve been working hard to make sure this year’s event is just as fun. National Night Out is designed to strengthen community relationship between residents and public service organizations such as police, city departments and charitable organizations that serve the community. Approximately 5,000 households are represented by the Neighborhood Associations that host the event, and our event generates 700+ attendees each year. The date for this year’s event will be Tuesday, October 4, 2011, from 5:30-8:30 pm, once again at Tietze Park. Continue reading “National Night Out 2011 – Don’t Miss it!”
July 2011 Crime Reports
The crime reports for the month of July are below. Fortunately, the major crime wave we experienced last July did not recur this year. Although we had a few more serious incidents of robberies, the overall crime rate was fairly normal for what is usually the worst month of the year. Actually, it was a little better than normal. There was a higher than normal number of incidents in the commercial parts of the neighborhood which offset the gains in the residential area. The commercial area typically averages 20 incidents per month, but this month they racked up 30. Continue reading “July 2011 Crime Reports”
June 2011 Crime Reports
We had another fairly light month in crime activity. The problem with auto thefts we saw last month seems to have moved on, none this month. Although we had a typical number of car break-ins, only 4 of those occurred in the neighborhood. The rest occurred in parking lots. There was a robbery in a parking lot near the Dubliner/Grape area. Two women were punched and their property taken while walking to their car. While we occassionally have robberies north of McCommas and south of Belmont, it is very unusual inbetween. I haven’t seen any similar incidents since. Please try to attend the LGNA Fajita Fest on Tuesday July 19th if you can. We’ll meet at Greenland Hills United Methodist Church, Penrose @ Delmar at 7pm. Our Extended Neighborhood Patrol officer will be there to discuss any issues you might have. And feel free to enter the dessert contest if you like, you might win a prize! May 2011 Crime Report
The crime reports for May are below. I apologize for the delay this month, the computers at DPD were having trouble. This was a fairly average month with the exception of auto thefts where we had a spike. Continue reading “May 2011 Crime Report”
