Watch Your Wheels

1/18/08 The Lower Greenville Neighborhood Association Crime Watch reports a recent crime spree in the area. In the last week or so, there have been 6 incidents of people having wheels stolen from their vehicles.

They appear to be targeting SUVs with 22″ custom wheels. However, regular cars have been hit as well.

Most have been from cars parked in the street but a couple were parked in the driveway. DPD recommends using your garage if you have one, but most importantly, try not to park on the street.

Neighborhood Alley Clean-Up

Sparked by the initial Crime Watch alley clean-up project, area resident Jim Sorg recently coordinated neighbors to clean the alley in the 5900 block of Belmont.

Almost a dozen folks, young and old, showed up to help remove brush and trash. Other neighbors cleaned up their properties prior to the event in response to the flyers handed out in advance. The event ran from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and a few even worked later cleaning up loose ends. Continue reading “Neighborhood Alley Clean-Up”
