In the coming weeks, Dallas City Manager Mary Suhm will present her proposed budget to the City Council for the next fiscal year (Oct. 2011 – Sept. 2012). Our Council Member, Angela Hunt, will be holding three townhall meetings so you can learn about this budget proposal and give me your input. This budget will determine how tax dollars are going to be spent on police, fire, streets, parks, code enforcement, and other city departments.Angela provided this snapshotof the City Manager’s proposed budget:
>No tax rate increase
>No sanitation rate increase
>200 police officers hired
>200 firefighters hired
>Nearly all pools and rec centers will be open
>Some library staff cuts, but materials increased
>Same street maintenance as this year (which we significantly increased over the prior year)
