A meeting was held in Novemeber to discuss street lighting with the City of Dallas and the Dallas Police Department. Form Based Zoning Primer
Neighborhoods and Developers agree, but City Staff does not.
Where are the hundreds of thousands of people slated to move into the Dallas area over the next 25 years going to live? Up until now, the approach has been to build new housing developments at the growing edges of the city. While shopping and schools generally followed, automobile travel was a necessity. Now, the edges of town are further away. Commutes grow longer and more expensive. And lots more people are coming. With the at least two potential redevelopment sites on Greenville Ave, the Arcadia site and the Whole Foods site, this matter is of great importance to our neighborhood. LGNA Fajita Fiesta 2008!
LGNA’s July meeting has traditionally a covered-dish dinner to allow neighbors a relaxed venue for getting to know each other. But this year, we decided to change things up. Thanks to our good friend Matt Mortimer at the Blue Goose, we had a fajita party this year. Blue Goose provided us with fajitas, tortillas, chips, rice and beans. And as if that wasn’t enough, he brought some tasty sopapillas too! In keeping with the fiesta theme, we had a dips/salsa contest with prizes coutesy of Blue Goose. In addition to 12 salsa entries, dozens of tasty side dishes and dessert graced the tables.
About 60 people showed up to catch up with their neighbors and make new friends. Special guests included Neil Emmons, District 14 Planning Commissioner and Ryan Trimble of Rep. Dan Branch’s office. Officer Chris Dorword of the Dallas Police Department who patrols our neighborhood also joined us with Cadet Brandon Sampson.

Burglar Arrested Thru ENP
The Lower Greenville Crime Watch announces the first arrest to be conducted as part of our Extended Neighborhood Patrol. The arrest was of a career criminal who most recently burglarized a home in the 5800 block of Kenwood. There is no way to know how many burglaries we prevented with this arrest, but we are confident it was no small number based on the length of the burglar’s rap sheet.
