November 2011 Crime Report

The crime reports for November are below. The overall number of incidents was again lower than usual, but the incidents we focus on the most (Burglaries and Car Break-ins) were about average. Of serious concern is the number of firearms stolen this month. I’ve raised this before in previous emails, but there were 4 incidents this month of guns being stolen. In one case, they were left unattended on the sidewalk after returning from a hunting trip. Lowest Greenville is Back!

And Better Than Ever!

Crime is down and families are returning. Businesses along the part of Greenville Avenue known as “Lowest Greenville” are celebrating a Renaissance!

On Saturday, December 10, Lowest Greenville Avenue businesses between Richmond and Lewis will celebrate the completion of construction on streetscape improvements.

Many restaurants will be offering food and drink specials, and several businesses will have live music and host special events such as face painters for the kids and a wing-eating contest for the grown-ups. Events will take place between 11am and midnight, and most specials will be offered throughout the day and evening.  See the Advocate article for a list of entertainment. Annual Cookie Drive Expands This Year

Saturday, December 17, brings an opportunity to boost your holiday spirit.  Once again LGNA will be collecting Christmas goodies for the firefighters at Station 17.  It’s our way of saying “Thanks for watching out for us.”  Bring your cookies, brownies, or any other holiday treats – either homemade or purchased – to 5843 Vanderbilt between 10am and 2pm.  We’ll assemble a basket for each of the three shifts and deliver the baskets that weekend.
