Fire Station Baskets / Toys for Cops

On Saturday, December14, you’ll have two opportunities to boost your holiday spirit.

For the eighth year, LGNA will be collecting Christmas goodies for the firefighters at Station 17. It’s our way of saying “Thanks for watching out for us.” Bring your cookies, brownies, chips & salsa, or any other holiday treats – either homemade or purchased – and we’ll assemble a basket for each of the three shifts and deliver the baskets that weekend. Crime Alert: Driveway Robbery

There was a robbery in the 6000 block of Morningside late in the night on Thursday (Halloween). The suspect held the resident at gunpoint in her driveway and made off with her purse and cell phone. The suspect is described as a black male about 5’10” last seen wearing a cap and a cloth over his face with a dark shirt and dark pants. The incident occurred at about 2:40am as the victim was returning home. National Night Out Rocked Tietze Park!

From the pictures below, you can see that Tietze Park was rocking on Tuesday night, October 1! It was our annual National Night Out event, this year hosted by LGNA, Lakewood Heights NA, Lowest Greenville West NA and The Friends of Tietze Park Foundation. Dozens of volunteers from these organizations worked together to make this event happen. National Night Out At Tietze Park This Week

This year’s National Night Out at Tietze Park will be Tuesday, October 1 from 5:30-8:00pm.

National Night Out is designed to strengthen community relationship between residents and public service organizations such as police, city departments and charitable organizations that serve the community. This year’s event is hosted by three neighborhood associations – Lower Greenville, Lakewood Heights, and Lowest Greenville West and The Friends of Tietze Park Foundation.

On hand will be police officers to talk to about crime concerns. In addition, we will have exhibits from quality-of-life and charitable organizations. As usual we will have the face painters, hotdogs, musical entertainment, and a bounce house.

This is a great opportunity to have some fun, meet some neighbors, and learn a little something about health and safety. Look for the manila flyer on your doorstep. The event will take the place of our regularly scheduled November LGNA meeting. Be sure to stop by and say hello!
