15th Annual Long Run

Come join J.L. Long Middle School students, staff and parents for the 15th Annual Long Run. As the only fundraiser sponsored by the J.L. Long Middle School PTA, it is also one of the oldest and most established certified 5K runs in East Dallas. Proceeds are targeted to bridge critical gaps in the J.L. Long Middle School budget.

 

The 15th Annual Long Run offers runners a winding and challenging course that takes runners through the picturesque, tree-lined streets of Hollywood Heights in historic old East Dallas. The Start/Finish and after race activities will be in front of J.L. Long Middle School at 6116 Reiger Avenue, Dallas, TX 75214.

CM Hunt Announces Budget Town Hall

In the coming weeks, Dallas City Manager Mary Suhm will present her proposed budget to the City Council for the next fiscal year (Oct. 2011 – Sept. 2012). Our Council Member, Angela Hunt, will be holding three townhall meetings so you can learn about this budget proposal and give me your input. May 2011 Meeting Recap and Crime Watch Report

Last night’s LGNA meeting lasted a little longer than usual. Anytime Crime is the topic, the questions and concerns can go on for a while.

The meeting began with our “annual meeting”, a formality of our by-laws where we elect members to the board. Three minutes later, we turned the floor over to Lt. Albert Martinez of the Dallas Police. Lt. Martinez provided a pile of crime prevention literature and spoke about some of the things that make our neighborhood a target, such as dimly lit streets and excessive street parking.

Following Lt. Martinez, LGNA Crime Watch coordinator Darren Dattalo presented a report with a summary of crime reports for the last 6 years. You can download a pdf of the report here:
