2010 National Night Out

What a great turn-out we had this year!  One police officer estimated more than 800 people turned out for NNO2010.  National Night Out is designed to strengthen community relationship between residents and public service organizations such as police, city departments and charitable organizations that serve the community.

This year’s event featured a special performance by Recording Artist Kate Miner. Kate is the new music director at the Munger Place United Methodist Church and a frequent local performer. Some of us are still humming those tunes!

The kids had no shortage of activities between the bounce house, the face painters, the sidewalk chalk, the hoop shooting and the playground. Both kids and adults enjoyed the hot dogs courtesy of the neighborhood associations and the hamburgers provided by the Skillman Church. Lots of exhibitors attended representing various commmunity organizations and charitable causes. Unfortunately, the Carter Bloodmobile broke down en route and was not able to make it.

The Dallas Police Department showed in full force. Several members of the Central Patrol group were present. In addition, we had members of the Gang Unit and SWAT. The SWAT team brought the SWAT Vehicle and Patrol brought the Mobile 911 van.

We look forward to an even funner time next year!
