National Night Out at Tietze Park Next Week!

NNOTP_Logo-smThis year’s National Night Out at Tietze Park will be Tuesday, October 7 from 5:30-8:00pm.

National Night Out is designed to strengthen community relationship between residents and public service organizations such as police, city departments and charitable organizations that serve the community. This year’s event is hosted by three neighborhood associations – Lower Greenville, Lakewood Heights, and Lowest Greenville West and The Friends of Tietze Park Foundation.

On hand will be police officers to talk to about crime concerns. In addition, we will have exhibits from quality-of-life and charitable organizations. As usual we will have the face painters, hotdogs, musical entertainment, and a bounce house.

This is a great opportunity to have some fun, meet some neighbors, and learn a little something about health and safety. Look for the manila flyer on your doorstep. The event will take the place of our regularly scheduled November LGNA meeting. Be sure to stop by and say hello!

Refresh the Painted Number on Your Curb or Driveway

Take advantage of a special fund-raiser project from Explorer Post 741, sponsored by the Dallas Police Department: For $15.00 Explorers will use reflective paint to paint your address number at the front and back of your house. They’ll use reflective paint that’s visible during day or night, ensuring emergency vehicles can find your address should they need to.

The Explorers are planning a “sweep” on Saturday, September 6. But if you can’t place your order by the 6th, they will come and do your painting at later dates. They will accept check, cash, or credit cards, and all funds will go towards the Dallas Explorer Program.

To place your order, contact Officer Lorenzo Carranza Lorenzo.Carranza@dpd.ci.dallas.tx.us or 469-203-2203.

Injured Firefighter Needs Our Help

DFD_logoOne of the best things about our beloved neighborhood is that we band together to help one another. As you probably heard in the media, a Dallas firefighter was severely injured on May 3rd. He is a resident of our neighborhood and his nearby neighbors are asking our support in this time of need. Please read the message below and help in any way you can.

Some of you may have heard about a Dallas Fire Fighter who got injured last Saturday May 3rd fighting a fire. What you may not know is that he is a Lower Greenville Resident and neighbor of ours. Jeff Patterson suffered 3rd degree burns to 30% of his body.  He is still listed in critical condition and is currently at Parkland Hospital’s Burn trauma unit which is reputed to be the best in the country.

Tina and Jeff have two children, ages 5 and 2 years old and Jeff’s healing and recovery is going to be a very long and arduous process. We have set up a fund on his behalf (information listed below) and I am asking you all to please rally around our friends and neighbor during this life altering process.

In an effort to help the family, a CareCalendar has been set up for meal deliveries and donation information. You are welcome to share this link with anyone we may have left off.
