By popular demand, the LGNA annual summer social and
fajita fest will return on Tuesday, July 21, at 7:00 p.m. at
Greenland Hills UMC, Penrose and Delmar. Last year’s dinner
drew over 100 neighbors, and this year’s is expected to be
just as popular. The summer social is open to all LGNA-area residents. Families with children are welcome. Bring your appetites.
Blue Goose Cantina and Aw Shucks will again provide fajitas and assorted fixings. Please bring a side dish to share with your LGNA neighbors, whether it’s your family’s favorite salad, Aunt Suzie’s corn casserole, or braised Brussel sprouts.
Also by popular demand, we’ll be repeating the dessert contest.
Neighborhood businesses have donated prizes to award the winners.
Winners will be selected by votes of those sampling the desserts. All
those who want to highlight their baking/cooking skills, please prepare your favorite dessert and show off your talents. Everyone come prepared to sample all the dessert entries. It’s our
neighborhood duty to give all entrants an even chance in the voting.
City officials and staff have been invited to share dinner with
us. Again this year, the Police Department-sponsored Explorer
Scouts will be helping us with set-up and take-down.
Scour your closets and shelves for gently used stuffed toys and
for gently used books. We’ll again be collecting Toys for Cops.
Also we’ll be helping Elizabeth McPherson work on her Girl Scout
Gold Award and collect books for Interfaith Housing Coalition.
(See articles elsewhere in this newsletter.) Come and chat with your neighbors and invited guests, enjoy a wonderful meal, and participate in the thrill of competition.
